My new editorial is up over at the Morgan County Citizen, our local paper. This time, I’m discussing what’s next for the pro-life movement after SCOTUS overturned Roe v. Wade.
Here’s an excerpt:
As an Evangelical Christian pastor, my reaction to this decision is nothing short of celebratory. As I read the news, my eyes filled with tears of joy. It’s not because I want to “control women’s bodies.” It’s because abortion ends a life, and abortion hurts women. I have sat with would-be mothers and fathers, destroyed by grief because of their inability to forget what they saw when the “clump of cells” turned out to be an unborn baby, underdeveloped but complete with a face, little hands, and little feet. I have met young women who have come out of human trafficking where abortion was used as a tool to keep them in forced prostitution, undeterred by pregnancy. I have met with those suffering extreme depression, anxiety, and thoughts of self-harm after a choice that promised them freedom, liberation, and self-empowerment.
