In college, I was obsessed with what was new in music. As I finished my M.Div. and began my Ph.D., my music listening tailed off. Life just got busy. Lately, however, I’ve gone back to my old ways: new music, new musicians, finding art that gives joy. Anyway, I’ll spare you the backstory. Instead, I just thought I’d share some of what I’ve been listening to on repeat lately. In no particular order, here’s my current playlist:
This EP, Principium by The Arcadian Wild, tells the story of creation, the fall, and the hope that follows. I heard this band when they opened for Andrew Peterson on this year’s Behold the Lamb of God tour. I strongly recommend it.
This song by Sojourn Music isn’t necessarily new, but is great. It captures this one core truth: life is full of pain and suffering, but when Christ comes he will give the meek the earth. I like music where the theme of the lyrics is matched by the pain/joy/lift in the music itself. This one fits the bill.
No song draws me into the joy that lies ahead like this one.
Psallos sums up each chapter of the book of Hebrews in this musical masterwork.
What? Did you think I only listen to Christian music? While I love that, I have other tastes. Greta Van Fleet has been a revelation for me over the last 18 months. I can’t stop listening to them, and this song in particular.
It’s a tall task to cover a Beatles song and top them. Cody Fry does it here.
An oldie-but-goodie: our daughter’s name is Rosemary and this song has become the de facto theme song for her at our house.
Drake White (who happens to be my first cousin, as his mom is my mom’s sister) has a new album out called The Optimystic and it is fantastic. This song, Legends Never Die, is about our Uncle Ron. We are incredibly proud of Drake. Give his new album a listen and I’m sure you’ll find something you like.

That’s it for me. I’m not transforming this into a music blog, but just thought I’d share what’s in my ears lately.
